“In Rainbows is Radiohead’s greatest artistic work and should be respected as one of the crowning achievements of modern man.” – Alexander the Great after conquering Persia
Introduction
My name is Mikey and I am a musician and avid music fan. I enjoy music from all genres and play Guitar, Bass, and Piano. I enjoy discussing music and the specifics of what I enjoy about certain albums or artists. I am building this site for Ms. Thompson’s Web Design course.
What is this blog about?
This blog is mainly going to be related to album reviews and music discussion. I will reviews albums from every time period. I will talk mainly about the albums I’ve been enjoying the most as well as the bigger, more popular releases. I’ll also talk about films or whatever else I feel like posting about.
My Scoring System
I rate albums on a score of 0 through 10 with 10/10 being a perfect score. If I think an album is almost a 9/10, for example, I will still give it an 8/10 but specify that it is close to a 9/10. The score I give an album is based on my personal enjoyment of the album, I will give reasons of why I think it deserved the score I gave it, but this all based on personal opinion. I do not try to objectively rate albums.
10/10- Masterpiece. Albums with this score are what I consider to be the greatest pieces of music of all time. These albums are masterclasses in artistic expression.
9/10- Fantastic. Albums with this score have very little flaws. These albums execute they’re goals exceptionally well.
8/10- Amazing. I hold albums with this score in high regard. These albums usually excel in a few different aspects and are usually only held back by one or two specific areas.
7/10- Great. Albums with this score tend to have amazing high points that brought down by obvious low points.
6/10- Good. Albums with this score only have a couple areas that are standout. These albums are usually dragged down by a weak track or two.
5/10- Meh. This is an exact middle ground. Albums with this score are not good or bad, they’re just… there.
4/10- Not Great. Albums in this category can have some good parts here or there, but they are surrounded by uninteresting and undesirable music.
3/10- Bad. Albums with this score have very little that is even remotely interesting.
2/10- Awful. Albums with score have almost no redeeming qualities. Most of these albums I would consider my least favorites of all time.
1/10- Unimaginably bad. Albums with this score have nothing that would warrant a good listening experience. Far below average in all aspects. I like to laugh at these albums.
0/10- Unlistenable. I can’t even comprehend how anyone would enjoy these albums.
